Intensive IFS-Informed EMDR Trauma Therapy Retreats

A Sacred Pause for Deep, Focused Healing

When was the last time you stepped away from your daily responsibilities to focus entirely on your healing?

When have you ever had an entire day, or five, of undivided therapeutic attention devoted solely to your nervous system, your story, and your growth?

Most people try to heal in the margins of their lives.
Between work deadlines.
Between parenting.
Between exhaustion.

At Monroe Trauma Healing Center, we offer something different.

Our 5-Day Intensive Retreats are designed as a structured, growth-oriented immersion experience, allowing you to step out of survival mode and into focused trauma resolution.

This is not surface-level coping.

This is intentional, guided transformation.

The 3-Phase Intensive Model

  • Geometric drawing of an outline square with sections divided by vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines.

Phase 1: Stabilization & Nervous System Preparation

Before trauma processing begins, your system must feel safe.

    During this phase, you will:

    - Learn how trauma impacts the nervous system

    - Develop regulation skills to manage overwhelm and dissociation

    - Strengthen internal resources and self-soothing capacities

    - Build trust with your therapist and within your own system

    - Increase your window of tolerance

This phase ensures that when we approach painful memories, you have the internal capacity to tolerate and metabolize them safely.

Healing is not rushed. It is prepared.

Phase 2: Internal Parts Mapping & Attachment Repair

Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), we gently explore your inner world.

    You may discover:

A terrified younger part still carrying fear

A rejected adolescent part holding shame

A hyper-independent protector who learned not to rely on anyone

An anxious part that scans constantly for danger

Rather than pushing these parts away, we approach them with curiosity and compassion.

    In this phase, you will:

    - Map your internal system

    - Identify and befriend protectors and exiles (wounded parts/inner child)

    - Repair attachment wounds through corrective emotional experiences

    - Unburden wounded parts of the beliefs they have carried for years

When parts feel seen and supported, the nervous system softens and true trauma resolution becomes possible.

Phase 3: Targeted EMDR Trauma Reprocessing

Once your system is stabilized and parts are prepared, we begin focused EMDR reprocessing.

EMDR allows the brain and nervous system to:

    - Reprocess traumatic memories

    - Reduce emotional intensity

    - Shift negative core beliefs

    - Integrate past experiences into adaptive resolution

Because the work is concentrated over consecutive days, we avoid the repetitive opening and closing of weekly sessions. This continuity allows for deeper immersion and more efficient progress.

Many clients report meaningful shifts within days rather than months.

Why Choose an Intensive?

This model is used to treat many disorders, such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, etc., and is also used for:

  • Attachment repair

  • Performance enhancement (athletics, business, leadership)

  • Relationship growth

  • Confidence and identity work

  • Breaking long-standing emotional patterns

Trauma healing does not just reduce symptoms.

It restores access to your fullest self.

This model is ideal for:

  • Those who feel stuck in traditional weekly therapy

  • Busy parents

  • Working professionals

  • Individuals who need support now

  • Out-of-state clients seeking specialized trauma care

A single retreat day includes 6 hours of therapy. A single intensive retreat includes 30 hours of therapy.

• 1 retreat day ≈ nearly 1.5 months of weekly therapy
• 5 retreat days ≈ approximately 7–8 months of traditional therapy

While the investment is higher upfront, many clients find they ultimately spend fewer cumulative hours in treatment, with greater depth and focus, and faster results.

Most importantly, you are not healing in fragments.

You are healing with intention.

How Trauma Healing Happens Here

Many of the people who come to Monroe Trauma Healing Center have already tried therapy, sometimes for years, and still feel stuck in the effects of trauma, anxiety, or painful past experiences.

This does not mean you are broken.
It usually means your nervous system has not yet had the opportunity to fully process what happened.

In this video, I explain how I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR therapy during trauma healing intensives to support deep, lasting resolution.

IFS helps us understand and connect with the protective parts of you that developed to help you survive overwhelming experiences.

EMDR allows the brain and nervous system to reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel present or activating.

When combined within an intensive retreat format, this approach creates the conditions for meaningful change - often more efficiently than traditional weekly therapy alone.

The goal is not simply symptom management.
The goal is helping your system finally feel safe enough to heal.

If you are wondering whether this work may be right for you, I invite you to explore the information on this page or reach out to schedule a consultation.

Healing is possible. And you do not have to do it alone.

Intensive IFS-Informed EMDR Therapy is an investment - emotionally and financially.

Clients complete a thorough intake process to ensure clinical appropriateness and readiness. If accepted, you can expect to work with a therapist who specializes in trauma resolution and understands the complexity of your specific struggles.

Many clients plan ahead financially before scheduling.
